Our program is designed as an after-school care program for the students at Vancouver Christian School. The goal is to provide a safe, inviting, and stimulating environment for the children who need a care program after school.
Our program will include plenty of opportunities for children to participate in gross motor activities and connect through social activities. In our current “media generation,” where children are not engaging in many fitness activities, our goal will be to foster a love for movement that will encourage a lifestyle of health and overall well-being. We will also provide children with prepared activities such as crafts and games.
We will educate the children about positive food choices and prepare food as a program activity.
Our daily routine will take place in two groups, divided by age. Each group has access to its own activity space, the outdoor play space, the playground, and the park.
A sample plan for our program looks as follows:
Time | Activity |
3:00 – 3:30 | Check-in |
3:30 – 4:30 | Snacks and Gross motor time |
4:30 – 5:30 | Indoor activity (crafts, play, Homework Help, Tutoring) |
5:30 – 6:00 | Free play |
