Our program is designed as an after-school care program for the students at Vancouver Christian School. The goal is to provide a safe, inviting, and stimulating environment for the children who need a care program after school.
Our program will include plenty of opportunities for children to participate in gross motor activities and connect through social activities. In our current “media generation,” where children are not engaging in a lot of fitness activities, our goal will be to foster a love for movement that will encourage a lifestyle of health and overall well-being. We will also provide children prepared activities such as crafts and games.
We will educate the children about positive food choices by providing healthy snacks. The program will also include the possibility for students to receive tutoring by signing up for additional small group tutoring during our program hours.
Our daily routine will take place in two groups, divided by age. Each group has access to their own activity space, the outdoor play space, the playground and park, the music room and a gym of the school.
A sample plan for our program looks as follows:
|3:00 – 3:30||Check-in|
|3:30 – 4:30||Snacks and Gross motor time|
|4:30 – 5:30||Indoor activity (crafts, play, Homework Help, Tutoring)|
|5:30 – 6:00||Free play|
Our program primary goal is to offer full-time after school care for students at VCS. Thrive Kids Club prioritizes applications for full-time after school care.
Due to a high number of full-time applications, we do not accept part-time enrolment.
